Inclusive, Personal Marriage Counseling
In my practice, I work with both couples and individuals who are seeking to improve their relationships or marriages.
My approach is personal, affirming, and inclusive. I welcome couples of all backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, as well as traditional and non-traditional partnerships. Every relationship is unique, and I honor the diverse identities and stories that each couple or individual brings to therapy.
Importantly, you don’t have to attend therapy as a couple to start improving your relationship. I also work with individuals who want to address relationship or marriage issues on their own. Maybe you’re looking to understand your patterns, heal from a past relationship betrayal, or build better communication skills to bring into your marriage.
In our work together, your voice and goals will guide the process. I strive to make every client feel heard, respected, and empowered to create positive change.
Common Relationship and Marriage Issues I Help With
Every relationship faces challenges from time to time. In my marriage counseling practice, I help clients address a wide range of relationship issues, including but not limited to:
Trying to Conceive and Parenting
One of the most common challenges I see is how having children impacts a marriage. From the stress of trying to conceive, to the sleepless nights of having a newborn, to managing toddlers and school-aged children — these stages, while beautiful, can dramatically shift the focus away from the couple’s bond. Instead of nurturing their emotional connection, many couples find themselves functioning more like co-managers of a household. Their conversations are centered around logistics like who’s picking up the kids, what’s for dinner, who’s staying home with the sick child and the romance, intimacy, and emotional closeness quietly fade.
In therapy, I help married couples pause and look at the bigger picture. We explore how parenting responsibilities, career stress, and years of accumulated tension may be creating emotional distance. Then, we work together to shift patterns. I support couples in rebuilding communication, rediscovering affection, and finding ways to prioritize their relationship again. It’s not about going back to how things were before children, but about creating a new, stronger partnership that holds space for both love and responsibility.
Betrayal or Infidelity
I also work with couples facing deep ruptures in trust, including betrayal or infidelity. These moments can be incredibly painful, and for married couples, especially those with children, the stakes feel even higher. I understand that for many couples, preserving the family is a top priority. In therapy, we create a space to process what happened, unpack the pain, and slowly rebuild trust, if that’s the path both partners want to take. I never push for a particular outcome — whether you stay together or separate is your decision — but I help you make that decision thoughtfully, with clarity and care.
Couples without children may approach betrayal recovery differently, sometimes with less pressure to “make it work” for the sake of a family. That’s okay too. My role is to support you in processing the hurt, understanding what it means for your relationship, and helping you navigate what’s next, together or apart, with honesty and emotional integrity.
Communication Breakdowns
One of the most frequent issues I see in my work with married couples is communication breakdowns. Maybe you feel like you're speaking different languages — one of you shuts down, the other pushes harder. Arguments spiral quickly or go unresolved for days. Or maybe the silence is what’s most painful. You don’t fight, but you also don’t talk about anything meaningful anymore.
In therapy, we’ll work together to identify the patterns that keep you stuck. I help couples slow things down, listen more openly, and speak more honestly — even when the topic is hard. We build new communication habits rooted in respect, curiosity, and emotional safety. It’s not just about learning to argue less, it’s about learning to understand each other again.
Telehealth-only counseling allows me to connect with you no matter where you live in California. Through a secure video platform, I bring therapy directly to your private space in a HIPAA-compliant, confidential manner. You save time by avoiding traffic or commutes, and you have the flexibility to schedule sessions that fit your life.
Even though I am located in the San Fransisco and Marin County area, I can work with you as long as you are physically located in the state of California. This opens the door for couples and individuals throughout California to receive quality support without geographic barriers.
Privacy and Comfort: Many people find it easier to open up when they’re in their own familiar environment. Teletherapy can help you feel more relaxed, which often leads to more honest communication and emotional vulnerability in sessions.
Convenience: Meet from your home (or any private space) – no commute needed. You can even attend sessions if you or your partner are in different locations within CA.
Flexibility: Without a physical office schedule to maintain, I can often accommodate rescheduling and find times that work best for both of us.
Effectiveness: Research shows that online counseling is as effective as in-person therapy for many issues, so you can feel confident that virtual marriage counseling can help you make real progress.
