Depression Therapy in California
Explore what is going on underneath the surface
Depression can make everything feel more difficult. It may take all your energy just to get out of bed or make it through the day. You might feel disconnected from the people you care about, lose interest in things you used to enjoy, or carry around a heaviness that will not lift. Sometimes it shows up as sadness. Other times it looks like irritability, numbness, or a sense of emptiness that is hard to describe.
If you are feeling stuck, unmotivated, or overwhelmed, you are not alone. Depression is one of the most common mental health struggles, and it is also one of the most treatable. With the right support, you can begin to feel more like yourself again.
I am Robert Jackson, a Licensed Therapist providing online therapy for depression throughout California. In therapy, we take the time to understand what is beneath the surface and work together to help you feel more grounded, more connected, and more in control of your life.
Depression is not a one size fits all
Depression can look and feel different for everyone, and it often affects people in ways they do not fully recognize until it starts to interfere with daily life. I help people identify and better understand the form of depression they are experiencing so we can begin to heal it at the root.
Major Depression
This form of depression often brings a deep sense of sadness, hopelessness, low energy, and a loss of interest in things that used to matter. If you are struggling to get through the day or feel emotionally flat no matter what you do, you are not alone. In therapy, we create space to understand what is underneath this heaviness and work to reconnect you with your emotional world, one step at a time.
High Functioning Depression
You may be meeting your responsibilities and appearing fine to others, but inside you feel numb, exhausted, or disconnected. I help clients with high functioning depression explore what they are holding in, where the pressure is coming from, and how to create more space for rest, authenticity, and emotional balance.
Persistent Depression
Also known as dysthymia, this is a lower level but long lasting form of depression that can feel like a constant dullness or fog. You may not feel terrible every day, but you also may not feel joy or motivation. In therapy, we work to gently shift these long standing patterns and uncover the parts of you that still want to feel alive, present, and connected.
Situational Depression
This kind of depression is often linked to a life event such as a breakup, loss, move, or major change. You may feel overwhelmed by sadness, uncertainty, or grief. I help clients process what happened, understand their emotional response, and move through the situation with clarity and support.
Convenient and Private Therapy Through Online Sessions
I offer all of my therapy sessions through secure video, making it easy to access care no matter where you are in California. Whether you are based in San Francisco, Marin County, or a quieter part of the state, telehealth gives you the flexibility to receive support from a place that feels safe and familiar.
Why Telehealth Works for Depression
Depression often makes it difficult to leave the house, organize your schedule, or find the motivation to seek help. Telehealth removes those barriers. You can meet with me from your home, your office, or anywhere private with a reliable internet connection. For many people, this leads to greater consistency in therapy and a deeper sense of comfort during sessions.
Flexible and Reliable Support
Online therapy means you do not need to factor in traffic, parking, or commute time. It also allows for greater scheduling flexibility, which is especially helpful for people with demanding jobs, caregiving responsibilities, or varying energy levels from week to week. When life gets complicated, therapy can still remain steady.
Secure and Confidential
I use a video platform that is fully encrypted and compliant with privacy standards. Our conversations remain private, and you are always in control of your environment. This helps many people feel more open and relaxed during sessions, which allows for deeper work.
Telehealth has made therapy more accessible than ever. If you are feeling isolated, stuck, or unsure of how to take the next step, know that help is available — and it can begin right where you are.
Schedule a Free Consultation
If you are ready to take the first step, I invite you to reach out for a free fifteen minute consultation. This is a chance for us to talk, explore what you are looking for, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
In our work together, we take the time to understand what your depression is trying to tell you. We explore the thoughts and emotions that are weighing you down, while also building the skills and self awareness you need to move forward. My approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and grounded in respect for your unique experience.
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. All you need is the willingness to begin.
